          ผลงานทุนสร้าง 700 ล้านบาท ฝีมือจากผู้กำกับภาพรางวัลออสการ์ ปีเตอร์ เปา จาก Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon และผู้ออกแบบงานสร้าง หยีจงหมั่น แห่ง The Curse of Golden Flower โดยได้นักแสดงเจ้าบทบาท โจวเหวินฟะ มารับบท "ขงจื้อ"

          Confucius คือภาพยนตร์ที่สร้างเพื่อเป็นเกียรติให้กับการครบรอบวันเกิดของ ขงจื๊อ ปีที่ 2,560 และเป็นการเฉลิมฉลองครอบรอบ 60 ปี ของการก่อตั้งสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน

ใครคือขงจื๊อ

          ลัทธิขงจื๊อก่อตั้งและถูกใช้สอนให้กับผู้มามากกว่า 3 ศตวรรษ ก่อนที่ประเทศจีนจะถูก จิ๋นซีฮ่องเต้ รวมเป็นหนึ่ง ขงจื๊อ เกิดในแคว้นหลู่ช่วงกลียุค ซึ่งปัจจุบันเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของมณฑลซางตง ชื่อเสียงของเขาคือการเป็นนักคิดและนักปรัชญา ขงจื๊อ ชนะใจผู้นำแคว้นต่าง ๆ จนได้รับโอกาสดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นผู้สำเร็จราชการ

          แต่ศัตรูทางการเมืองบีบบังคับให้เขาพ้นจากตำแหน่ง ขงจื๊อ ใช้ชีวิตช่วงบั้นปลายในการท่องไปตามหัวเมืองต่าง ๆ โดยการสอนและมีลูกศิษย์ผู้เลื่อมใสติดตามไปทุกหนทุกแห่ง ในช่วงกลียุคที่เต็มไปด้วยความรุนแรงและสงครามระหว่างเมือง เขาได้สอนถึงความสำคัญของอารยธรรม ศีลธรรม และการเป็นอันหนึ่งอันเดียวกันในสังคม บรรดาลูกศิษย์ของเขาได้รวมรวบคำสอนเอาไว้ใน คัมภีร์หลุนอวี่ ซึ่งถูกตีพิมพ์เอาไว้เมื่อ 2,000 กว่าปีที่แล้ว

          ตามหลักฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์ ขงจื๊อ จากโลกไปด้วยความรู้สึกผิดหวัง แต่คำสอนของเขาก็กลับขึ้นมามีชีวิต ราชวงค์แล้วราชวงค์เล่า คนรุ่นแล้วรุ่นเล่า หลักคำสอนของ ขงจื๊อ กลายเป็นฐานหลักที่มั่นคงของอารยธรรมชาติจีน ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้เล่าถึงเรื่องราวของชีวิตที่ต้องระหกระเหินของนักปราชญ์ ผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ และอาจารย์ที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดเท่าที่โลกเคยรู้จัก
