          ภาพยนตร์แอ็คชั่นสุดระทึกท่ามกลางไฟสงครามในอิรัก ของผู้กำกับหญิงแกร่ง แคทเธอรีน บิเกโลว์ (Point Break, K-19: The Widowmaker) ที่ไปกวาดรางวัลในเทศกาลหนังเมืองเวนิสมา 5 รางวัล และเป็นตัวเต็งของนักวิจารณ์หลายสำนักว่ามีโอกาสในเวทีออสการ์ต้นปีหน้า The Hurt Locker เล่าถึงชีวิตของทหารหน่วยพิเศษ ซึ่งมีหน้าที่อันตรายที่สุดในโลกในการ "ถอด ชนวนระเบิดในสมรภูมิรบ" เมื่อ เจมส์  หัวหน้าทีมคนใหม่ เข้ามารับหน้าที่เป็นผู้ถอดชนวนระเบิดใน สงครามกลางเมืองอิรัก โดยมีลูกทีมที่คอยสนับสนุนและคุ้มครองอย่าง แซนบอร์น และ เอลดริช แต่วิธีการทำงานของ เจมส์ นั้นทำให้ลูกทีมทั้งสองต้องปวดขมับ เมื่อเขาอาศัยลูกบ้าในการแก้ชนวน ระเบิดแต่ละภารกิจในแบบที่ไม่กลัวตาย ทั้ง แซนบอร์น และ เอลดริช ต้องพยายามเตือนสติและ ควบคุมอารมณ์ของหัวหน้าทีมคนใหม่ ท่ามกลางความโกลาหลในเมืองที่พร้อมลุกโชนเป็นไฟทุกเสี้ยววินาที ในที่สุด เจมส์ ก็ได้เผยสาเหตุของความบ้าระห่ำของตัวเอง ซึ่งจะเปลี่ยนชีวิตของ นายทหารทั้งสามไปตลอดกาล
